Dual King Ranch was established in 2001 by Bob Bergren and the Dual King Ranch Foundation was established in 2005. The Ranch had been a dream of Bob's for some years and after finding the right location, he was ready to begin building and developing the Ranch property. To this day, Bob and the staff are continually improving and expanding the property to meet the increasing demand for Equine and Family programs.
After Bob determined that he wanted to continue working with horses and at-risk youth, he started researching what needed to be done to get into the field. He discovered Greg Kersten, the Founder of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and his training courses for certification. Needless to say, Bob signed up and completed all of the formal training; he has continued to improve and advance his skills to this day. Bob found that there was a real need and demand for equine related programs in the St. George area particulary, due to the high concentration of Residential Treatment Centers (RTC's) for at-risk youth. Although many of these programs are located right in St. George, others are located outside the city on ranches and more remote locations. A perfect setting for Equine Therapy programs.
Over the years, Bob and his staff expanded their efforts to include working with the Juvenile Court System and Court adjudicated adolescents as well as other local programs. As it turns out, all of the individuals and groups that Dual King Ranch works with come from a variety of backgrounds and also have a vareity of issues that need to be addressed. It was quite obvious to Bob and the staff that the Equine Therapy sessions resulted in a positive change in attitude and behavior for virtually every single one of the adolescents and adults that took part in the sessions.
Dual King Ranch continues to discover the need for their services in a myriad of settings, including addiction to drugs and alcohol, domestic violence, dysfunctional families, substance abuse and Court appointed individuals that truly need something positive to focus on to help them turn their lives around.
We are very proud of the work we do here at the Ranch and if we can make a positive difference in just one person's life, it's why we get up every morning to do what we do!
Please let us know if there is someone that you think might benefit from what we have to offer, we'll bet a horse that they will thank you later when the time is right.
